Pork
We raise Idaho Pastured Pigs that are great at foraging for a lot of their diet, but not all of it. We feed them a non-gmo, no-corn, no-soy ration twice daily. We work with local farms to take their waste fruit, sometimes mash from a local cidery or whole fruit that is not suitable for human consumption. The addition of the fruit keeps them very happy and varies their diets. We usually finish the hogs on this for the last few months which imparts more flavor to the meat. This practice not only gives us an amazing product, but also helps to ensure that the product does not go to waste, or wind up in a landfill.
Poultry
Our farm is pesticide free, because pesticides act as endocrine disruptors. There are many links to cancer with high use, or exposure to pesticides. We do not use antibiotics or hormones on any animals.
All of our poultry are pasture-raised, ensuring access to fresh grass and insects, ensuring a more balanced diet, much more ethical than raising these animals in a barn, with little or no access to fresh air and grass. This makes the meat more flavorful and healthier for the families eating it, which has been shown to significantly increase the health and quality of the meat.
Pasture raised meats are higher in Omega-3 Fatty Acids, Omegs-6, conjungated linoleic acids(CLA), Vitamin E, Beta-Carotene, and Vitamin B, with a lower total fat, due to their activity level.
Eggs
Our layers are fed a non-gmo, no-corn, no-soy feed that is locally produced. They are raised on pasture allowing them to forage for grass, and insects. We move them twice daily in addition to giving them scratch and grubs to both help in the moving process and keep them happy and active. Due to the natural sunlight and their diet the eggs are significantly more nutritionally dense in the following; Omega 3s and fatty acids,Omega 6, Vitamins D & E, and Beta-Carotene and Vitamin A. This all makes for a more flavorful and healthier egg with a bright orange yolk, not to mention the freshness that comes along with an egg that is sold fresher than store-bought.
